BRAC's Signature Speaker, a thought leadership program sponsored by HNTB and Taylor Porter, is an extension of BRAC’s Monthly Lunch series. The semiannual Signature Speaker events feature speakers of national renown on global business issues.

At the behest of its board and executive committee, BRAC identified transportation infrastructure as a critical area of focus, particularly in the months preceding the gubernatorial election. The region is facing a transportation crisis, the result of a combination of rapid growth in recent years and severe underinvestment in transportation planning and infrastructure.

At Signature Speaker, attendees will hear from one of the nation’s preeminent thought leaders on the topic of transportation infrastructure, Mr. Robert Puentes.

Mr. Puentes is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program and director of the program’s Metropolitan Infrastructure Initiative, one of the leading infrastructure policy shops in the country. He is a nationally recognized expert and seasoned professional in sustainable infrastructure focusing on transportation, water, and energy. His work focuses on the broad array of policies and issues related to metropolitan growth and development including infrastructure finance, urban planning, growth management, suburban issues, smart cities, and economic development.

Rob serves on a variety of high-level boards, commissions, and advisory groups such as the West Coast Infrastructure Exchange Advisory Board and the New York City Transportation Reinvention Commission.
